Born and raised in Fall River, son of the late Morris and Ida (Rebeck) David, he lived in Somerset and moved to his Portsmouth, RI home over forty years ago. A graduate of Admiral Farragut Academy in New Jersey he was a Veteran of the United States Navy. Marshal was a Freemason and a member of the Grocer’s Association. He was the Owner and President of Grand Central Markets, a family business, where he worked for many years until his retirement in the late 1990’s. Marshal was a well-respected businessperson who gave back to the local community by donating food and supplies to numerous organizations and local school athletic programs.
An avid yachtsman, he raced his sailboats for many years until he began powerboating on his Grand Banks Trawler, “ECHO”. Marshal’s favorite port was Menemsha Harbor, visiting most weekends for over fifty years. He became a regular on Menemsha’s “Squid Row”. He spent winters skiing in New Hampshire or cruising up and down the East Coast with family and friends, spending some winters on the boat in Florida and the Caribbean.
He is survived by three sons, Robert H. David and his wife Tammy of Rehoboth, John H. David and his wife Jane Deeley of Lake Forest, CA and Peter A. David and his wife Raquel of Fall River; two step-sons, both of Tiverton, Robert E. Allcock III and his wife Zulmira and Dana W. Allcock and his wife Bethann; two step-daughters, Kathy M. Silvia of Tiverton and Valore Tynell of Fall River; one brother, Billy David and his wife Judy; one sister, June Miller; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
His Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at 10:00AM in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Cherry Place, 178 Winter Street, Fall River followed by burial in Pocasset Hill Cemetery, Tiverton. Visiting hours are Tuesday from 4:00 – 7:00PM. Relatives and friends invited. Contributions in his honor may be made to Special Olympics RI, 370 George Washington Highway, Smithfield, RI 02917.
