Maria M. Cordeiro, age 61, of Fall River, passed away, Monday, April 27, 2015 at her home after a long illness surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of João D. Cordeiro to whom she had been married for 38 years.
Born in Arrifes, São Miguel, Açores, the daughter of the late Daniel and Maria (Marques) Cordeiro, she immigrated to the United States in 1976 and was employed as a Machine Operator with Bradley Scott for 26 years and later Quaker fabric for years until its closing. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and spending time with her family. A communicant of Good Shepherd Parish, she was involved in many church functions.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three children: Stephanie Farias and her husband Mike of Westport, Johnny Cordeiro and his wife Kassandra of Fall River and Raphael Cordeiro of Fall River; a granddaughter Hannah Rose Cordeiro; three brothers João Cordeiro of Edmonton, Canada, Daniel Cordeiro of Fall River, and Jose Cordeiro of São Miguel; four sisters Fatima Couto of Ontario, Canada, Lourdes Fita of São Miguel, Angie Fita of France and Carmen Rego of Fall River and many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be held on Friday, May 1, 2015 at 8:30AM from the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE AT CHERRY PLACE 178 Winter St., Fall River, MA, followed by her funeral mass at 10AM in Good Shepherd Parish 1598 South Main St., Fall River, MA.
