Kerry X. Murphy

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts we announce the passing of Kerry X. Murphy, age 67 who left us on November 26, 2024 after a short illness. Kerry was born August 9, 1957, a graduate of Tiverton High School and Rhode Island College. He was a man of endless kindness, a devoted father, a loving family member, and friend.

Kerry is survived by his beloved children Devin P. Murphy and Molly K. Murphy, who bravely cared for him in his final days. His siblings Francis Murphy, Paul Murphy, Nora Murphy and Mary Hodgson, several nieces and nephews, one stepdaughter and a wide circle of family who adored him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank G. Murphy and Florence A. Murphy.

After graduating from RIC, Kerry dedicated himself to working with adults with special needs. His work wasn’t just a profession; it was a passion. Kerry believed deeply in the inherent value of every person and made it his life’s mission to help others feel understood.

Outside of his work, Kerry had many hobbies that brought him joy. He was an avid lover of computers, always eager to explore new gadgets. His curiosity and enthusiasm for all things tech inspired many and made him the family’s “IT guy”. Kerry also found peace and adventure in the outdoors. He loved camping, where he could enjoy the beauty of nature and create memories that would last a lifetime.

What we will miss the most was Kerry’s sense of humor. Known for his quick wit and infectious laughter, he had a unique ability to brighten the room with jokes and lighthearted spirit. Whether telling a funny story or sharing a clever one-liner, Kerry knew how to make people smile. His laughter was a gift to all who knew him, and it will live on in the hearts of those he touched.

Kerry may no longer walk among us but his love, laughter and the lessons he shared will continue to guide and inspire us. He demonstrated THE POWER of positivity, commitment to others, and perseverance daily.

A Celebration of Life will be held on a future date, where we will gather to honor the incredible man he was and the legacy he leaves behind. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Southcoast Cancer Center.
