Dennis Patrick Matthews

Born in Fall River, he was the son of the late David J. Matthews, Jr. and Selina F. (Ryan) Matthews.

In his youth, Dennis’ father worked for an oil company, which led to their family moving to Ras Tanura, Saudi Arabia where they lived for 3 years.

A graduate of Monsignor Coyle High School, Class of 1966, Dennis went on to obtain his Associate’s Degree from Bristol Community College. He worked as a Surgical Technician at the former Truesdale Hospital and later at Charlton Memorial Hospital.

Dennis loved to play golf and was an avid Red Sox and Boston Bruins fan.

He is survived by two daughters, Kristine M. Resendes of Somerset and Karin M. Price and her husband Dr. Richard Price of East Bridgewater; four grandchildren, Nora Faith and Grace Frances Resendes, Owen Patrick Lawlor and Fiona Lily Price; siblings, Denise Tompkins and her husband Bruce, David J. Matthews, III and his wife Anna; his former son-in-law, Ernie Resendes as well as several nieces and nephews. Dennis was predeceased by his former wife, Kathleen (Keating) Matthews.

His Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 20, 2021 at 11:00 AM in Waring-Sullivan Home at Cherry Place, 176 Winter St, Fall River. Relatives and friends are invited. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 19, 2021 from 4:00-7:00 PM.
