Barbara A. Dean

Barbara A. (Hanson) Dean, age 86, of Fall River, passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2014 in Sarah S. Brayton Nursing Care Center. She was the wife of the late John L. Dean, retired Liueteant of Fall River Police Department.

Born in Fall River, a daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Langstone) Hanson, she was a lifelong resident of the city.

A graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School, she worked as a bank teller at the Fall River National Bank, branch manager of the Old Red Bank and at Theroux Accounting until her retirement. A communicant of Sacred Heart Church, she was a member their Woman’s Guild and also a member of the St. Anne’s Fraternity Women’s Auxillary.

She is survived by one son: Michael C. Dean and his wife Beatrice Whitney Dean of Fall River, one sister: Patricia Delaney and her husband Dr. Patrick Delaney of Leominster, MA, three step-grandchildren: Erin Lopes, Kristiana Lake, and Allyson Rego, three step-great-grandchildren: Madison Mathias, Dakota Patin, Coryn Rego and several nieces and nephews. She was sister of the late Rita Roberts and Mary Murray.

Her Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at 10:00 AM in Sacred Heart Church, Linden St., Fall River. Relatives and friends invited. In lieu of flowers contributions in her honor may be made to the Sarah Brayton Nursing Care Center Resident Fund, 4901 North Main St., Fall River, MA 02720. Burial private. Arrangements are in the care of the Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Cherry Place.
