Semper Fi! The motto Ramon Omar “Bito” Guerra lived by his entire life up until he took his last breath on Sunday morning, January 14, 2018 at a hospice center in San Antonio, Texas surrounded by his loving family. He was born on June 4, 1927 to Ramon Guerra and Maria Bazan Guerra in Falfurrias, Texas.
Ramon was a proud 90 year old United States Marine Corps Veteran who distinctively and honorably served during the WWII, Korean and Vietnam wars and carried the title of Gunnery Sergeant and was a Purple Heart recipient as well as a recipient of many other medals and awards that he was so proud of. He served a total of 33 years with the United States Marine Corps until he retired and then became a Bus Driver for Brooks County ISD until his retirement. Ramon was an esteemed member of the VFW Post of Falfurrias as well as a member of the American Legion and Lifetime member of the DAV. He was a loyal and loving family man who always stayed faithful to his beliefs and his country. He was the patriarch of the family and will always be remembered for his dedication to each of his loved ones.
As Ramon entered Heaven, he was welcomed by the Lord; his parents; his brother, Omer Guerra and two sisters, Olga G. Ugarte and Dalia Guerra.
He leaves behind to continue his legacy and remember the beautiful memories his wife of over 61 years, Ana Gloria Guerra of Falfurrias; son, Ramon Omar (Bridget) Guerra, Jr. of Corpus Christi, Texas; two daughters, Cynthia (Hector) Garza and Ana Lisa (Steve) Villarreal both of Falfurrias; sisters, Olda Maria Pena of Falfurrias, Blanca G. Saldivar of Austin, Nori G. (Rolando) Maldonado of San Antonio and Lucinda G. McIntosh of Houston; brother-in-law, Hector J. Ramirez of Falfurrias; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
An expression of heartfelt gratitude is expressed to Ramon’s longtime caregiver, Mari Villa of Falfurrias.
Rosary will be prayed at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams in Falfurrias with visitation beginning at 8:30 a.m. Funeral Mass will follow at 11:30 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Falfurrias. Services will conclude with a burial at the Falfurrias Burial Park with military honors.
