Maria Elvia Cavazos, 68, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, January 26, 2023 at a hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas. She was born on December 24, 1954 in Laredo, Texas to Santos Silva, Jr. and Elodia Gutierrez.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jose Santos Silva and sister, Lydia Cuellar.
Elvia is survived by her husband, Juan A. Cavazos of Hebbronville, Texas; daughters, Maria E. “Avita” Martinez (Luis Eduardo) Garza of Zapata, Texas, Maricela Martinez (Jose Alfredo Lozano) of Zapata and Maribel Martinez Tamez (Noe Tamez) of San Antonio, Texas; brother, Jose Roberto (Ana) Silva of San Ygnacio, Texas; 11 grandchildren; numerous relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Jose Roberto Silva, Luis Eduardo Garza, Jose Alfredo Lozano, Noe Tamez, Steven Cavazos and Luis Eduardo Garza, Jr. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jerry Carpentier, Victor Tomas Molina Jr., Daniel Carpentier, Matthew Cavazos, Nathan Carpentier, Vicente Romeo Lozano and Alejandro Martinez.
Visitation will start at 5:00 p.m. with a Holy Rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard-Williams, Hebbronville. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 2, 2023 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Graveside services will be at 3:00 p.m. at the Zapata County Cemetery in Zapata, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to her favorite charity St. Jude Children's Hospital.
