Margaret Lasater Clark passed away peacefully at her home in Falfurrias, Texas Tuesday, August 23, 2022. Having survived a cancerous brain tumor in 2016, she remained gracious, thoughtful, determined, engaged and kind through all her days.
Born to Carolyn (Kampmann) and Garland Lasater right before Christmas in 1943, Peggy had a lifetime's commitment to the Presbyterian Church. It was from her deep faith that her irrepressible optimism sprang. She graduated from St. Mary's Hall in San Antonio, TX and Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY. She made friends everywhere she went -- on her honeymoon, through her volunteer commitments, even in the hospital. Peggy was continuously and happily involved in many and various community organizations, most notably the Corpus Christi Junior League, Parkway Presbyterian Church, and the Texas State Aquarium. More globally, she fostered friendships across Central and South America through decades of dedication to Pan American Round Table, where she was international Director General and served in leadership positions on the local, statewide, and international levels. Peggy's skills on the tennis court were formidable, and she was equally essential to the group lunches after the games. She was wonderfully skilled with a 20 gauge, and she could plan a party with the best of them. A lifelong Democrat, Peggy lived fully in the value of hard work, the beauty of God's creation, and the dignity of every person she encountered. Peggy/Mom/Pegita/Aunt Peggy set an example for us all. She will be sorely missed.
She is survived by Bill, her dear husband of 57 years, daughter Kittie, son and daughter-in-law Will and Lizzie, and beloved grandchildren Warren and George.
A graveside service for family will be held at the Falfurrias Burial Park at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 24, 2022. Later that morning, all are invited to a lunch and celebration of Peggy's life at their home at La Mota from noon to 3:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to one of Peggy's causes: the Austin Presbyterian Seminary (https://www.austinseminary.edu) or the Texas State Aquarium (texasstateaquarium.org), or a charity of your choice.
