The most important thing to remember after such a shocking and untimely departure is the positive impact the individual made in the lives of many through their actions and character while they were living, rather than focusing on the circumstances surrounding their death.
It is with intense sadness that the Phelps family announce the passing of Kimberly Nicole Phelps and her unborn daughter Lucinda, on Sunday, November 17, 2024 in Franklin, Tennessee. She was a native of Falfurrias, Texas and was 23 years of age and seven months pregnant with her first child.
Kimberly was the youngest of three children, and the only daughter, born to William Phelps and Irma Hinojosa Phelps on January 18, 2001. She was a cherished individual known for her kind, loving, caring, and humble personality and she lived a life filled with tremendous passion and service towards others. She was such a sweet hearted person and was looking forward to becoming a new mama.
Kimberly meant the world to her mother and was a true daddy’s girl. Growing up with two brothers, she tended to be more of a tomboy and even though she had a petite stature, she was strong. She admired her brothers and always strived to make them proud. Throughout high school, Kim took a liking to the FFA organization and was a member and officer for several years. She loved animals, spending time laughing with friends and the motorcycle rides she took, alongside her dad, growing up and into her adult years. She also grew up with full faith in her Lord and Savior and was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church until she moved from Falfurrias.
After graduating from Falfurrias High School in 2019, she attended Texas A&M University in Kingsville until she was accepted into the United States Army in 2020. After serving almost three years in the US Army, Kim was honorably discharged and moved to Montana to continue her education at Montana State University for a few semesters. She was currently enrolled in online classes with Oregon State University while working as a waitress at Big Bad Breakfast.
Kimberly and her daughter were welcomed into heaven by the Lord and Kim’s paternal and maternal grandparents, her Uncle Bill, Aunt Marissa Anabel Hinojosa and her Tia Elia.
Surviving are Kim’s parents, William and Irma Phelps of Falfurrias; brothers, Joe Daniel (Brianna) Phelps of Yuma, Arizona and John Michael (Erica) Phelps of Ricardo, Texas; nieces and nephews, Adron, Julian, James, Roxy, Brooklyn, JoAnna and Julia; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members and friends.
Pallbearers will be Joe Daniel Phelps, John Michael Phelps, Antonio Hinojosa, Gilbert Hinojosa, Ivan Mendoza and Cesar Salinas.
A Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams in Falfurrias with Visitation beginning at 5:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 27, 2024 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Falfurrias and Burial will follow at the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Falfurrias with military honors.
