David Fuentes Gutierrez, Sr. entered into the eternal kingdom of the Lord on Sunday, September 29, 2024 as he was surrounded by his loving family at a hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was born September 29, 1947 to Andres Gutierrez, Sr. and Lorenza Fuentes Gutierrez in Edinburg, Texas and was blessed with 77 years to make many memories with his family and friends. David worked for over 35 years with Brooks County ISD in the Maintenance & Transportation Department and upon retirement was the Foreman. Before working for BCISD, he had the pleasure of working alongside side his father at the King Ranch-Encino Division. David also had a passion for carpentry and making sure his children were respectful and genuinely good people.
He was a selfless individual with a heart of gold. His soul was dedicated to helping others, generously lending a helping hand without hesitation or expectation of reward. He was an active volunteer with the Westside 4-H Club for many years and enjoyed attending school related activities, especially to watch his children and grandchildren participate. He also loved the children in his neighborhood and was considered like a father figure to many of them.
David is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Esmeralda Del Bosque Gutierrez; brothers, Benito Gutierrez and Ramon Gutierrez and sisters, Margarita Lopez, Antonia Cisneros and Maria Pena.
He leaves behind to cherish the many memories made by his sons, David (Selina Garza) Gutierrez, Jr. of Corpus Christi; Rosendo (Margo Casanova) Castillo, Jr. and Homero (Mary Ruiz) Castillo both of Falfurrias; daughters, Andrea Marie (Gustavo Esquivel) Gutierrez, Lory (Roger Lara) Gutierrez and Ana Lisa (Roel Ramirez) Castillo all of Falfurrias; brother, Andres Gutierrez of Laredo, Texas; sisters, Anna Garcia and Alicia Duarte both of Falfurrias; 19 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 3rd, at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams in Falfurrias with Visitation beginning at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrates at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 4th, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Falfurrias and services will conclude with Burial at the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Falfurrias.
