Darrel “Pa” Wade Fox entered into eternal rest on Monday, November 6, 2023 at Texas University hospital in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 67. He was born on July 27, 1956 to Willard Claude Fox and Gloria Jean Gilliam in Beeville, Texas. For the last six years, Darrel has been working with the Killam Ranch Properties DCRC Division of Freer, Texas. Previously, he dedicated over 40 years of hard work to Robert Marshall Construction, Inc. out of Bruni, Texas where he served as a Heavy Equipment Operator, Supervisor and beloved friend.
Darrel was a dedicated provider and the definition of a true Cowboy. Alongside his wife Mary Jane, they have been the proud owners of El Bigote Cattle Company. He’s been a cattle rancher his entire life and enjoyed everything that entailed. Fishing, hunting and rattling up deer were some of his favorite things to do, as well as using his quick wit to pull a few pranks on anyone he could to get a good laugh. He adored his grandchildren and his family, which he always had unique nicknames for and they meant the world to him. It was also a guarantee that anytime you saw Darrel, he would have a mini roping rope in his pocket, just in case he had a rattlesnake or something to rope.
Left to cherish his memories and many life lessons are his wife, Mary Jane “Maggie” Fox and their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Tasha “#1 Son” and Charley Hellen, grandchildren Shelby “Robby” Hellen. Audrey “Camille” Hellen. J.C. “Tejon`” Hellen and Lauren Workman, great grandchildren, Riley and Everleigh. Mazey “Tommy” Hellen and Cande Benavides, grandchildren Lanelle and Amelia. Michelle “Elmer” and Chris Brackhahn, grandchildren Avery Wollard, Emerson Wollard and Noah; Tiffani “Goat Woman” and Eddie Cremar, grandchildren, Chloee “Bushy”, Chelsea and Chase “Taquache.” Colt “Cowboy” Fox and Diana Ruiz Fox, grandchildren Aidan Chapa, Chance “Ringo” and Carlee. Krissy “Cookie” Mahalitc and grandchild Grace “Newt” Crowley. Trey “Jethro” and Keri “Moonie” Mahalitc, grandchildren Bowen “Bodine,” Barrett “Gordo” and Hayden “Gorda.” Jarrod “Rooster” Mahalitc.
