Our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Aurora P. Moreno, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, December 19, 2024 at a nursing home in San Antonio, Texas, at the age of 92. She was born on December 6, 1932 to Teodoro Perez and Lorenza De Leon Perez in Randado, Texas.
Aurora had a fondness for traveling. Her travels took her to destinations across the country. She especially loved visiting the United States Capitol, Arlington National Cemetery, Lincoln Memorial, New York City, Lake Tahoe and Reno, Nevada. She also enjoyed movies and TV shows. Her favorites were Lonesome Dove, The Equalizer and Yellowstone. Through these shows, she found her favorite actors, Robert Duvall and Queen Latifah. During her lifetime, Aurora remained a loyal fan to the Dallas Cowboys, having never missed a game.
Very dear to Aurora was her son-in-law, Donnie Garcia, who she loved as her own son. Precious to Aurora were her grandchildren, Deanna Gibson, Dominique Garcia, and Savannah Ybanez, who all cherished her as a second mother. The same love and adoration carried through to their children, James Gibson, Oliver, Amelia, and Chloe Garcia, Angelisa Ruiz, and Ricky and David Corta.
She was reunited in Heaven with her parents; sons, Roger Moreno and Tito Moreno; grandson, Jorge Gomez Jr., siblings, Oscar Perez, Teodoro Perez Jr., Daniel Perez, Eloy Perez, Rosa Garza, Bertha Vela and Judy Garza; nephews, Rolando Garza and Noe Garza; cousin, Elva Soliz; sister-in-law, Nelia Perez.
Aurora leaves behind many precious memories that will forever be treasured by her children, Margot (Juan) Guardiola of Laredo, Texas, Mauro Moreno of Hebbronville, Texas, Patsy L. (Donnie) Garcia of Corpus Christi, Texas, Carlos (Beatrice) Moreno of Hebbronville, Veronica (Robert) Santos of Laredo, Pamela (Jorge) Gomez of Hebbronville, Mario Moreno of Corpus Christi, and Priscilla (Roy) Moreno of San Antonio; sister, Viola Arredondo of Florida; 20 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
The family would like to give special thanks and recognition to Dr. Katrina Patel and her team at MD Anderson in Houston, Texas. During her thirteen year battle with multiple myeloma, Aurora went into remission three times under the doctor’s care. Heartfelt gratitude is given to Aurora’s daughters, Veronica Santos, Pamela Gomez, Priscilla Moreno and Patricia Garcia for spending continuous care in the latter years of Aurora’s life.
Pallbearers will be Danny Perez, David Perez, John Guardiola, James Gibson, Ricky Corta, and Baby James Gibson. Honorary Pallbearers are Dominique Garcia, Oliver Garcia, Deanna Gibson, Savannah Ybanez, and Melanie Cantu.
A Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 26, 2024 at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams in Hebbronville with Visitation beginning at 6:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at 12 noon on Friday, December 27, 2024 at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Hebbronville and Burial will follow at the New Hebbronville Cemetery.
