JOHN PATRICK GOING, known to many by his childhood nickname “Pete”, passed away peacefully at home on August 29th after a ten year battle with cancer. He fought the good fight and was able to go on his terms.
Son of Norma and Edward Going, he was born on August 2, 1946 in Amsterdam New York. He graduated from Amsterdam High School and then came to Baldwin Wallace College for his bachelor's degree and never left the Cleveland area after meeting his wife Ginni on a blind date in college.
While his career centered around sports and local area high schools and colleges, his last working years were happily spent driving for North Coast Litho.
John loved to play golf, and his daughter and grandson are grateful that he passed along his passion and inspired them both to take up and enjoy the game. He played the game well, but would have never told you that.
He is survived by his wife Ginni Crawford Going, their daughter Kristin Going Lonegro and her husband Chris, his beloved grandson's Wyatt and Owen who were his pride and joy, his sister Peggy Thomas and much loved cousin Cindy Demitraszek.
Come celebrate John’s life Wednesday, September 4, from 6-8pm, in the Corrigan Craciun Funeral Home, 20820 Lorain Rd. Mass of Christian Burial Thursday, September 5, at 12:30pm, in St. Christopher Church, 20141 Detroit Rd. Interment private. Family will receive friends in the church Gathering Room from 11:30am till time of mass on Thursday.
