Stephen was born November 20, 1952 in Houston, TX to Dr. John H. Coffey and Bettye J. Miller (Goyne). He married Ann M. Theis on September 28, 1974.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Robert S. Coffey; his step-father, Henry E. Miller; step-brother, Larry D. Miller, and his grandson Gage V. Coffey.
He is survived by his wife, Ann M. (Theis) Coffey, his son, Kristopher S. Coffey, his grandson, Atreyu “Tru” A. Coffey, his sister-in-law, Carolyn M. (Davis) Coffey, his step-brother, David H. Miller (Jackie) and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family has entrusted Lake View Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens in Fairview Heights, IL with arrangements. Private services will be held at a later date.
