Robert Joseph Nations

Robert Joseph Nations, 89, of Fairview Heights, passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2022. He was born December 19, 1933 in East St. Louis to Terry and Evelyn (Oakley) Nations. Bob was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He married Rosalie Dobler February 25, 1956 in Winstanley Baptist Church, East St. Louis. Bob retired from Alton and Southern Railway where he was a switchman for many years. After retirement, Bob enjoyed golfing and traveling, especially to Tunica, Mississippi and Vegas with his wife, dear friends and family to go “ching-chinging”. He was an outdoorsman who had a passion for fishing, hunting and scuba diving. He also loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Bob will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his wife, Rosalie Nations; daughters, Debra (Jim) Steingrandt and Karen (Steve) Jakobitz; grandchildren, Justin Seabolt, Daniel (Mackenzie) Seabolt, Kyle (Jessica) Jakobitz, Cody (Carla) Jakobitz and Kristin Fulscher; great-grandchildren, Whitney Seabolt, Scarlett Jakobitz and Lila Jakobitz; numerous nieces and nephews that he loved dearly; life-long friends, Harold (Jo) Nevois and Mike (Paula) Happel. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.

Inurnment with military honors will take place Friday, January 6, 2023 at 1:00pm in Lake View Memorial Gardens, 5000 N. Illinois St., Fairview Heights, IL 62208 with a celebration of life to follow in Lake View Funeral Home. Special thank you to Dr. Steven Taylor and Dr. Scott Marrus for their care and compassion.
