She was born in Lawrence County, Illinois to the Parents of Edgar Powers and Rhoda Maggie (Moore) Powers.
Naomi met the love of her life while ice skating. While ice skating, she accidentally tripped and fell into his lap while Harold was sitting on the bench. Later Harold came up to her and wanted to know if she would like a coke. While ice skating again, Naomi accidentally dropped the coke on Harold and it went all over him. In that process, Harold fell in love with Naomi and proposed to her. The two were married on August 24, 1944 in Lawrenceville, Illinois.
Being married to an Army Officer, she took her then 4 and 6 year old girls in October 1953 and went across the ocean blue on the MM Patrick to meet Harold who at the time was stationed in Japan. What a courageous and determined woman. While Naomi and Harold were stationed in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri she was a mail carrier. She would pick up large bags of mail and took them to the airport and it was then loaded on an airplane and sent to its destination.
She was a member of the Gospel Assembly Church in Terre Haute, Indiana, Gospel Assembly Church in Eldorado, Illinois and the Shawnee Hills Christian Retreat in Equality, Illinois.
Most importantly, she loved the Lord and lived for him. Her faith was very strong!
It was also very important to her to be a “housewife” and care deeply for her husband and children.
Naomi is survived by her Sister; Mary Karns, Daughters; Pamela (Rev. Gordon) Littrell of Equality, Illinois, Marla (John) Ferguson of Terre Haute, Indiana and Marsha Ruth Perry of Equality, Illinois, Grandchildren; Andrea D.
