Herschel M. Edwards Jr.

Herschel M. Edwards, 94, born July 30, 1923 in East St. Louis MO to the late Herschel M. and Hellen (nee Turrman) Edwards Sr., passed away Friday, February 16, 2018 in Foristell, MO.

In addition to his parents, Herschel is preceded in death by Wanita (nee Scheer) Miller; granddaughter, Barbara Dixon; stepdaughter Jackie Staat; and son in law Frank Staat.

Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Judy (Joe) Hill; brother, James Edwards; grandchildren, Mitch (Paulette) Hill; Lisa (Jim) Bryant; Brad Staat; Daniel Dixon; great-grandchildren, Joshua Hill; Sarah Hill; Melissa Fitzgerald; Michelle Edwards; Ricky Staat; Jason Staat; Amber Staat; Daniel Dixon; several great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Herschel was a proud Navy veteran who served his country during World War II. After the war he began his career as a high risk truck driver. He drove logging trucks and worked in Alaska as an ice road trucker. In his spare time he enjoyed spending time outdoors. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and Cardinals fan.

A service to celebrate Herschel’s life will be held 12:00 PM Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at Lake View Funeral Home. Friends may gather with the family from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service.
