Born in Fairhaven a daughter of the late Paul and Anna (Smith) Potkay, she was a lifelong resident and she was a member of the Long Plain Baptist Church.
Mrs. Brown was a graduate of Holy Family High School. She enjoyed square dancing at the Mattapoisett Wharf in the summertime and belonged to the Mid-Town Twirlers in Fairhaven and the Wareham Swingers in Wareham. She also enjoyed arts, crafts and walking the beach at Fort Phoenix in Fairhaven. Mrs. Brown loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her four sons: Russell D. Brown and his wife Bernadette, Stephen P. Brown and his wife Kathy all of New Bedford, David R. Brown and his wife Sally of Georgia and Michael T. Brown of Wareham; two daughters Sandra C. Brown of Fairhaven and Kathleen R. Moreau of Nantucket; 15 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Brown was also the sister of the late Anna Lajmuc and William, Mitchell and Eugene Potkay.
Her funeral will be held on Friday, November 18, 2016 at 9am in the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE AT FAIRLAWN 180 Washington St., Fairhaven. Visiting hours will be Thursday from 4 to 7PM.
