Born in New Bedford, a daughter of the late Joseph and Amelia (Sousa) Bettencourt she was a lifelong area resident.
Ms. Souza worked as a home health aide. In her spare time, she enjoyed cross word puzzles, creating crafts with plastic, cooking, and everyone couldn’t wait until the holidays when she would bake her famous and delicious pumpkin bread.
She is survived by her children, Manuel Souza of New Bedford, Cheryl Ventura of Acushnet, Cindy Reposa and her husband Tony of Butler, PA, and Sherry Sylvia and her husband Joseph of New Bedford; ten grandchildren, Katrina, Angel, Dustin, Nicole, Edward, Tara, Jessica, Josh, Krystin, and Jenna; 15 great grandchildren; a brother, Robert Bettencourt and his wife Madeline of New Bedford; and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother-in-law of the late Edward Ventura and sister of the late Theresa Yared and Sandra Souza.
Her funeral service will be Sunday, December 1, 2024 at 12 noon at the Waring-Sullivan Home at Fairlawn, 180 Washington St., Fairhaven. Visitation will follow the service until 2 p.m. Burial will be private. For online tribute/directions: www.waring-sullivan.com.
