As the many tributes here amply show, Pete was a treasured friend and colleague at our office.  He will be sorely missed.

I'm very saddened to hear this news.  Pete was always very kind and made sure to swing by my office for some discussion about life, work, or just to talk about anything.  Pete will be sorely missed.  RIP, buddy. 

I am very saddened about Pete's passing.  I worked with Pete at the SEC for many years.  Before the pandemic, I would regularly see Pete, especially early in the morning.  We would discuss sports and family, along with some work issues.

I last saw Pete a couple of weeks ago when I was arriving to the office and he was stepping out.  Unfortunately, we didn't get to talk then, except to exchange greetings.  A missed opportunity to engage with Pete.

He will be missed but remembered.

I am very sad that Peter has passed. I have known him for many years and we were friends. We both worked at the Ops Center back in the 90s and our offices at Station Place now are right across the Hallway from each other.  We spoke every day and we always checked in on how each other was.  I also saw him every day at the Train Station as well.  He was a very good man and had a very big heart and always cared for others. I know he is in Heaven now in Peace. May God Bless his Mother and Family.  

I'm so sorry for your loss.  Pete was such a wonderful presence in the SEC's offices.  He always had a kind word or an entertaining story, regularly inquired after his colleagues, held a tender place in his heart for his mom, and often shared his great admiration for his sister.  Through many personal travails, Pete was always a source of humor and hope for others.  We'll sincerely miss having Pete around to brighten our days and are grateful for the time he spent in service of the investing public.  

My heartfelt condolences to Peter’s family. I have been traveling and only read the news of Peter’s passing in the SEC’s internal bulletin today. I cannot believe that he is gone. I recall meeting Peter more than 10 years ago. Peter worked in the SEC’s Office of Support Operations and would be assigned from time to time to help out the SEC’s executive staff.  When I became an SEC commissioner in June 2022, Peter was one of the first to offer congratulations. Peter and I saw each other last month at SEC headquarters. He was jovial and pleasant like always. We exchanged greetings by the elevators. It’s hard to accept that will be the last time. I thank Peter for his more than 30 years of service to the SEC and the American public. I also thank him for his personal friendship over the years. I will miss him dearly.

My deepest condolences to Peter's amazing family.  I worked with Peter at the SEC for many years and let's just say, I feel like I personally know all of you!  I could always count on Pete for a smile or a funny story.  I loved hearing about his childhood memories which often made me wish they were mine.  We talked about everything, including our Catholic faith.  He was so excited when I told him my kids were going to a Catholic middle school.   He truly cared about other people.  This is a sad loss for many of us at the SEC.  He was special and will be greatly missed.

My condolences to the Family.  Peter and I worked together at the SEC Operations Center for several years.  He told me I was a mother figure and he became my son.  Each time I would see him he would ask me to spell our last name.  It took a while but I finally learned how to spell it.  Truly a great guy with lots of smiles and humor.  RIP my son.

I was just thinking about Peter (a/k/a Pete the redhead) and when I last saw him, but today I am totally shocked to hear of his passing.  

I first met Pete when we were working together at the SEC Operations Center off Edsall Road. He stopped by my cubicle desk and stuck his tongue out at me. I guess he figured since I was a fellow redhead I would not mind so I reciprocated  This became our ritual whenever we bumped into each other and it made us both smile.

I will remember his humor and being able to chat about "work stuff" making us comrades in arms, even more so based on our similar work experiences.  I wish him light knowing that he was loved by his work family  and acknowledged in his faith.

I worked with Pete for many years and also lived close to him in Manassas.   He was always made me laugh and we talked often about our fathers who were both in the military and had passed.  Pete surely had his share of health issues and we always looked longingly to our retirements.   Rest easy, Friend.  I will miss seeing you at the office.  

Wow!  Too Young!

I knew Peter from work.  We worked together for many years and had many conversations throughout that time.  Due to the nature of my job, I did not interface with Peter as part of my duties, but somehow we met one day and made it a point to find each other now and again for conversation.  He was always pleasant, cheerful, polite, and tinted the conversation with his humor. He was calm and seemed to take whatever came his way in stride, peppered with humor.  He liked what he was doing, where he was doing it, and embraced the Northern Virginia life style.  He shared stories of his childhood and his family growing up.  He was particularly devoted to his Mom, but had wonderful remembrances  of his Dad.  He enjoyed telling stories about what he was doing outside of work.  He was a big sports fan and our conversations often led to the topic.  He was well versed.  He was very helpful at work things and would go out of his way to help, even if it was beyond his responsibilities.  It seemed like everyone in the agency knew Peter and liked him.   He was a happy face when he was around.  He will be missed.

To Peter's family and friends, my deepest sympathies as you work your way through the stages of grief.  I'm sure Peter is watching over us now and he'd probably be embarrassed that we were devoting time to him. 

My condolences to Peter's entire family....he was such a kind person, a truly wonderful friend to my brother, and I was fortunate to get to know him that way. His was one of the first Christmas Cards that would come to our house in December. He will be remembered with warmth and missed. I hope that your family may have a special measure of grace at this time, and many happy memories to sustain you. May Peter's memory be eternal!

My condolences to the family and friends of Peter.  I worked with Peter for numerous years and will miss him knocking at my office door to say hello and our many conversations especially regarding religion since we are both Catholics.  I was completely shocked of the news of his passing.  I pray that God keeps his healing arms wrapped around everyone as we go through this bereavement period.  I'll continue to keep everyone in prayer especially his Mom whom he loved to dearly.

My thoughts and prayers are with Peter’s family.  I was shocked to see on Facebook that he had passed away.  His passing came as we were battling hurricane Milton.  I had just got my cell service working and went online and saw all his friends posts.  So sad, he was to young.  My sister Florence Cowan also sends her regards, she still is having problems with her internet.  I never got to meet him but I could see from his posts that he was a very caring person.  He is with his Dad, Grandparents, my Aunt and Uncle and many others who have gone before him.  May he rest in peace, Sincerely, Adele Wehrenberg
