Mrs. Patricia “Pat” Hamborsky Roddy died due to complications following breast cancer on November 25, 2019 in Fairfax, Virginia. She was 82.
Pat was born on March 31, 1937 in Youngstown, OH to Matthew and Ann Hamborsky. She held a B.S. degree from Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia, PA and worked as a mathematician at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, OH, where she met her future husband, John Roddy, who were married on April 27, 1963 in Youngstown, OH and had three children.
In 1972 the family moved to Fairfax, VA. Pat worked in the business office at Bishop O’Connell High School for 33 years until her retirement in May, 2019. All three of her children also attended Bishop O’Connell High School.
Pat was an avid gardener and always maintained a beautiful yard. She enjoyed traveling with her family and always enjoyed time spent with her two grandchildren, Emerson and Genevieve.
Pat is survived by her son, David Roddy of Fairfax, Virginia; son and daughter-in-law Mark and Crissy Roddy of Lexington, South Carolina; her daughter, Kathleen of Somerville, Massachusetts; her sister, Frances Ackley of Hendersonville, North Carolina; and two grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, John Roddy; her parents, Matthew and Ann Hambrosky; and her brother, Rudy Hamborsky.
A visitation with prayers is scheduled for Wednesday, December 4, 2019 from 4:00pm - 6:30pm at Demaine Funeral Home in Fairfax, VA., All are welcome to attend and celebrate Pat's life. There will be light refreshments and appetizers served. The family would like to thank Capital Care for their care and dedication to Pat in her last months.
