Neola was born and raised in Chowan County, N.C. She came to the peninsula in 1943 to work as a switchboard telephone operator for C&P Telephone Co. in Suffolk, VA. After, that she worked at Norfolk Airport typing the weather reports for the pilots.
She was a long time resident of Fairfax County and worked for the Fairfax County Public School System for over 20 years. She enjoyed the students and helping people succeed in life. Her other joys in life were gardening, travelling and spending time on the water and fishing. The love she had for her Family was with a huge heart and would do anything for anybody at anytime.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years Captain William “Bill” Adams, United States Navy, and brothers James T. Dail, Jr. and Rufus K. Dail and sisters Leona Russell and Carolyn Skinner. Neola is survived by her daughter Patricia Pierson. She is also survived by her two sisters Betty Phillips and her husband Dr. Harvey Phillips of Ashland, VA and Peggy White of Newport News, VA as well as many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at 10:00 A.M. and the Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, March 2nd with a Reception to follow in the church Fellowship hall at First Baptist Church, 12716 Warwick Blvd., Newport News, VA 23606. Inurnment will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family asks that a donation in her honor be made to Capital Caring Health for The Adler Center, 3180 Fairview Park Dr., Suite 500, Falls Church, VA 22042. Arrangements made by Demaine Funeral Home, Fairfax, VA.
