Margaret S. Ralston who resided in Fairfax, Virginia passed away, peacefully on September 2, 2023. Margie, as she was referred to, was born in Kingman, Kansas at Kingman hospital on January 22, 1930. She was the daughter of William Scott and Genevieve Martin Speer and the third of six siblings. After graduating from Kansas State University, Margie worked in the Chicago test kitchens of Swift and Co. Over the years she involved herself as a home maker followed by working in the kitchen of the Fairfax County school system for about 10 years. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, was skilled at textiles and fiber work including weaving, knitting, basketry, and many other crafts. She was an active member of the Fairfax Presbyterian Church for more than 45 years, including serving in leadership positions. She enjoyed staying on top of the news of day, reading, and learning something new every day. She was a positive force in her community, much loved and touching many lives. She married David C. Ralston in 1956 and has four surviving children, Roger and wife Elisa Nappa, Peter, Barbara, and Andrew with Shannon Walton, and one grandchild, Grace Nappa-Ralston, a brother Larry Speer and wife Sandy and many nieces and nephews. Services will be at Fairfax Presbyterian church, 10723 Main St. Fairfax, VA 22030, on 9/23/2023 at 10:00am.
