Herbert Joseph Haas

Herbert “Herb” Joseph Haas, 91, of Fairfax, VA passed awapll\y peacefully on Tuesday, September 25, 2018. He was the widower of Frances C. Haas, with whom he shared 65 years of marriage together. Born in Washington, D.C on May 18, 1927 to Sidney and Rebecca Haas. Herb graduated from Eastern High School in Washington, D.C and joined the US Navy on March 3, 1945. He was a lifelong member of American Legion, Post 177 in Fairfax, VA. Herb was an avid Washington Redskins Fan and also enjoyed golf, hard-shell crabs and spending time with both family and friends. He will be remembered for his outgoing personality and was a friend to anyone he encountered. He is survived by his sons, Richard Haas of Chantilly, VA and Stephen Haas of Myrtle Beach, SC, 3 grandchildren Michael (Nicole), Ryan and Kevin (Stephanie) and 4 great-grandchildren, Kai, Mason, Ryan and Gianna. He is preceded in death by his wife Frances Haas, son Edward Haas and grandson Eric Haas. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, October 5, 2018 at 10AM at Demaine Funeral Home, 10565 Main Street, Fairfax, VA 22030. Burial will follow at Fairfax Memorial Park, 9900 Braddock Road, Fairfax, VA 22032. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his honor to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave, Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
