There he worked for the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) as a labor compliance specialist until his retirement.
Albert was a doer, a maker, and a problem solver who flew planes, rode motorcycles, kept tropical fish and went scuba diving, spear fishing and hunting. He played bagpipes and drums in Panama with the 1st Isthmian Highlanders and joined up with a Scottish pipe band in Washington DC after moving to Virginia. An early adopter of computer technology, he built and programmed his first PC, installing a second phone line for a modem in an age when the idea of a personal computer was very new. He had a lifelong passion for model steam trains, collecting firearms and genealogical research.
Albert was dedicated to community service, joining the Fairfax City Volunteer Fire Department and proudly serving with the Volunteers at Company 3 as an Emergency Medical Technician and Firefighter for many years.
He was kind, compassionate and loyal, with a sharp sense of humor and a fondness for practical jokes. He lived a full and vibrant life, loved his family dearly and was truly devoted to his wife of 56 years, Genevieve, who predeceased him by four years.
