Richard Conway Barnes passed away on November 7, 2011. He was born in Camden, Arkansas on August 4, 1931. He was the son of Junie and Myrtle Barnes. He served in the military in Korea and Vietnam. He served his country in military status for 23 years traveling to places like England and Alaska. After his military career he worked for the government in civil service for 26 years as a master electrician, retiring in 2001. To his fellow workers he was known as "Sparkey". He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Rancho Cordova. He was also a member of the VFW. Richard enjoyed being with his family. He was mild mannered and would do anything to help family and friends without question. He was very active in his church. He is survived by his wife of 56 wonderful years, Marie Estelle Barnes. They married on May 1, 1955 in Harlington, Texas. He had four brother's and three sisters: William, James, George, Maury, Virginia, Mary Alice who preceded him in death, and is survived by his sister Joan of Arkansas. He had three daughters: Joan Wittnebel; Joyce Warschauer who also preceded him in death, and is survived by his daughter Judith E. McLean and husband William of Conneticut. He has six grandchildren, Lisa Wittnebel and Shaun W. McLean who both preceded him in death, and is survived by Eric Wittnebel and wife Tracy of Rancho Cordova; Kelly M. McLean and husband Joe of Newton, CT; Darla Crowder and husband Chad of Rancho Cordova; and Adam Barnes. He has five great grandchildren: Mason Colon; Nathan Wittnebel; Kylee Crowder; Savannah Citron and Landon Crowder. A visitation will be held at Mount Vernon Memorial Park at 8201 Greenback Lane, Fair Oaks from 4pm to 8pm on Wednesday, November 9th and Thursday, November 10th, 2011. Memorial Services will be held at The First Baptist Church on Friday, November 11, 2011 at 11am at 10720 Coloma Road, Rancho Cordova, CA - it is the corner of Coloma Road and Benita Drive. A committal service with military honors will be held at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, CA on Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at 2pm.
