Passed away on September 7, 2013 after a 2-year 2-month battle with Triple Negative Breast Cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family and friends in her last days at Sutter- Roseville. Born on August 28, 1966, in Burlingame, California, the family moved to Sacramento when she was a young girl. She enjoyed academic activities, gymnastics, and cheerleading through high school and graduated from Bella Vista High School, Fair Oaks, in 1984 and from Sacramento State University with a BS specializing in accounting. After college, Laura accepted a position with the State Board of Equalization where she worked as a field auditor and promoted into policy development. Being able to put her career on hold after marrying her husband, Brook Baker, to stay home and raise their family of soon-to-be three boys was a dream come true for her. Their 10-year wedding anniversary was rejoiced on September 6, 2013 with her hospital room full of family. Always involved in the boys' sports, schooling, social and religious upbringing, she was an exceptional mother. Laura was a loving, loyal and caring wife and mother. She lived a healthy lifestyle and it showed in her beauty and the confident and energetic way she carried herself. She enjoyed travelling, attending the boys' sporting events and cheering them on, date nights, gardening, theater, concerts, spa days, entertaining, decorating and shopping for the best deals! In the Summer of 2011, Laura told the family of her TNBC diagnosis. She fought the disease head on for over two years with grace and dignity staying strong until the end. She will be missed terribly.
