Joanne Revello passed away April 4, 2015 in Fair Oaks, with her family by her side. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years, Colonel (Ret) Pete Revello, and her parents Clara Brewer and Gerald Brown, Sr. Joanne is survived by her two sons, Chris of Fair Oaks, and Jerry (Liz) of Auburn and her brother, Gerald Brown, Jr. She is also survived by Dorothy Fair (Shaw) of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Judy Buckman Osuna of Sacramento, both of whom she referred to as her daughters. Joanne was born June 20, 1936 in Mesa, Arizona. She spent much of her childhood growing up on the San Carlos Apache Indian Reservation just outside Globe, Arizona. Globe is also where Joanne met and married her husband, who became a career officer in the US Air Force. As the wife of a military official, Joanne and her family lived in many locations, moving often in conjunction with her husband’s military obligations and opportunities. It was during this time that some of their closest friendships were developed, many lasting their entire lives. They finally settled in Fair Oaks, where Joanne and her husband fully embraced and enjoyed the benefits of retirement. Joanne was the epitome of the perfect homemaker, wife and mother. She maintained an immaculate home, baked and prepared meals from scratch, and was an accomplished seamstress. Joanne did her own canning, made her own jams and jellies, and was always in charge of bringing her home-made dinner rolls and baked-from-scratch apple and pumpkin pies to family gatherings. Joanne loved and appreciated anything that was made by hand, and was exceptionally gifted at creating beautiful, hand-stitched quilts. She eventually opened a shop in Old Town Folsom, called Jodi’s Mercantile, where she sold primarily locally hand-made items such as linens, quilts and doilies, as well as a variety of hand-crafted home accessories. Part of the shop was a dedicated classroom, where Joanne taught many students eager to learn and master the art of quilting by hand. Joanne and her husband also travelled extensively around Europe and Italy, but preferred to travel the US, their trailer in tow, taking in all the beauty and diversity this country has to offer. When not taking care of her family and home, or working at the shop, Joanne liked to read books, especially mysteries, and work in the yard, where she created gorgeous flower gardens, and grew much of the family’s fruits and vegetables. Joanne was a woman of many talents, a strong-spirited, tough, but caring and loving person—she will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Visitation for Joanne will be held on April 9, 2015 from 4-8:00pm at Mount Vernon Memorial Park, 8201 Greenback Lane, Fair Oaks. Funeral services will be held at Noon on Friday, April 10, 2015 at that same location. A graveside service will immediately follow at the Fair Oaks Cemetery, 7780 Olive Street, Fair Oaks. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to any charity of choice.
