Flood, Edward Lincoln - Born September 30, 1916 in Tupelo, Oklahoma. Entered into rest February 2, 2012. He is survived by his daughter, Ellen Areias of Ione, CA; sister Ruby Begley of Bakersfield, CA; brother Clifford Flood of Atlanta, GA; 6 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson, Nixon Edward. He is predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Pearl; daughter Sandra Kay Isadore, daughter Patricia Ann Poncia and parents Lonzo and Dessie Flood.
Edward was born completely blind after having multiple surgeries, was give some vision. He attended Oklahoma School for the Blind and, nearly blind, graduated in 1938 with Honors in Journalism. When WWII broke out the military would not take his because of his vision, so Edward and Pearl settled in Sonoma, CA where they raised their 3 girls. Edward went to work in construction and worked at building Hanna Boys Center. After the completion he worked in the Plywood industry for the next 30 years. When Edward retired he and Pearl moved to Shasta County and Edward started working for the school district for the next 7 years. In 2009 Edward moved to Ione, CA to be with daughter Ellen. Dad will be deeply missed.
A Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 9 from 4-8 pm at Mt. Vernon Memorial Park, 8201 Greenback Lane, Fair Oaks. A Graveside Service will be held at Friday, February 10, at 12:00pm at Lawncrest Memorial Park 1522 East Cypress Avenue, Redding. For further information call Mount Vernon at 916-969-1251.
