BIOGRAPHY
Curtis (Curt) was born in Omaha Nebraska in July of 1939 and growing up he had three siblings, an older brother Al, younger sister Rosemary and a younger brother Johnny. . Curt's family moved to California when he was about 13 years of age. He joined the Navy and was stationed aboard the USS Missouri. During that time he met and married his partner of 54 years, Margaret Lauritsen-Vice. When his time was up in the Navy he learned several trades which included; rough-neck and derric hand on the oil rigs, house –moving engineer, truck driver, tree-topper and log skidder, Carpenter, Rigger, Welder, Heavy Euipment Operator. . Curt honed his skills to a journeyman level, which led to his significant contributions to the construction of Green-Peter and Little Goose Dams in Washington and Oregon and Oroville Dam in California. He also was involved in the construction of the Sacramento Convention Center.
Curt was a hardworking Father of five and anyone who knew Curt knew, he was "one of a kind". He spent most of his free time camping with his family because of his love of the outdoors. He loved to take the grandchildren fishing and camping and was the one that taught them all to fish, even three year old Caden. His grandchildren gave him so much joy and he loved all of them dearly. He passed that love of nature on to his children, the Vice family all love to fish, hunt and camp because of his influence. In his later years he became owner and operator of his own business, Curt’s Marine Service and Repair in Rancho Cordova. Curt’s passion for fishing showed through in every aspect of his life. Curt often would invite his friends to stop by the shop for a funny fishing story and a great bowl of chili.
Curt’s many friends are a testament to his life. All those who knew him will miss him. His absence saddens our hearts as there won’t be another fishing trip with Curt but one day, one by one, each of us will meet him again.
Until then Dad, God’s Grace and Salvation be with you as you join Michael and your parents “on The Mountain”.
Your Loving Family
