Sadly our dear daughter, Cory, went to be with God and her beloved Jesus Christ, Friday, November 5, 2021. She died from long-term congestive heart failure. She was a good person with many fine skills and attributes and also a very good friend to many people.
Cory was born in Vallejo, California, on Aug 5, 1959, to Ray Palmer and Cindy Hancock Palmer. As a young child, she was very close to her grandparents the late, Maxine and Omar Hancock and Rose and Lavern Palmer. In 1960 her brother Scott Palmer was born and now lives in Sparks, Nevada.
Cory had the experience of moving to new cities about every 5 years and learned how to adapt to her new environments. At age five her family moved to Napa, California where she attended elementary school. Then the family moved across the country to Connecticut where she attended junior and most of her high school education. She thrived in Connecticut, she loved the wooded area where she lived and developed a strong interest in small wild animals that had no fear of her. We would find her on our backyard deck feeding the rabbits, squirrels, and deer right out of her hand. Her dream was to become a veterinarian.
Before graduating, another move took her to Reno, Nevada where she completed high school and went to work for the Internal Revenue Service and Social Security as a clerk. She married an IRS agent and moved to Seattle Washington for about 5 years. Eventually, she moved to Sacramento where Cory and her husband opened a tax advisors service.
In another twist of fate, Cory and her husband decided to go their separate ways. Cory bravely started life as a single person, making new friends, joining a Church, and working in a new job she loved as an administrative assistant in a marketing department at Pacific Coast Building Products for about 15 years. During this time, she bought herself a motorcycle and would take long rides.
Sadly, her health problems started when she was about 50, she had a hip replacement. Then she fell and broke her leg, which hospitalized her for 6 months.
Her health never recovered, she developed long-term congestive heart failure and respiratory failure, and our dear daughter quietly passed away at Sutter Memorial Hospital downtown Sacramento, California. Cory was a good friend and wonderful daughter and will be remembered with love.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.MountVernonMemorial.com for the Palmer family.
