Gregory L. Benson was born December 23, 1961 to Theodore R. Benson and Bessie Mae Smith in Donald, South Carolina. In 1978 He graduated from Lindbloom High School in Chicago and received an Associate’s degree in nursing from Malcolm X College.
Greg went on to become an IT technician at Morton College and was the President of the Union. In 2006 Greg became part of the wonderful family at Presence St. Francis in Evanston, IL, where he served as a thorough and helpful IT technician.
Greg met the love of his life Pamela Wiggins in 2002 and the love affair led to a beautiful marriage on April 4, 2009.
Greg had the most loving smile, he was very family oriented, a wonderful mentor and was always helpful. Greg had a great inner strength, he knew he had physical limitations but would not let that get in his way, he always had much determination. He enjoyed photography, Poetry, playing cards, politics (which was a passion inherited from his mother), the love of music which he played the piano and guitar in his early years. However House music was his favorite, in which he would D.J. Greg also was a Master Mason.
Greg departed this life on June 10, 2015 with his families love surrounding him.
Greg was preceded in death by both his parents and his sister Rosalyn Smith.
Greg leaves to honor and celebrate his memory his beloved wife Pamela; two children, Jasmine Harris and Jevon Wilson all of Chicago, IL; four brothers, Anthony Smith (Wanda) from Atlanta, GA, Michael Smith (Cathalene) from Madison, WS, Jerry Benson from Champagne, IL, Eric Smith from Chicago, IL; one sister, Wynterae King from Seattle, WA; two uncles, James Smith (Margarett) and Joseph Benson all of from Chicago, IL: one aunt, Betty Smith from Donalds, SC; one god-daughter, Chericka Smith, god-sons Jonathan Van and Ethan Pearty all of Chicago, IL and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
