Rob was born in Seattle, and he lived in Mountlake Terrace until middle school when his family moved to Edmonds. Immediately after graduation from Meadowdale High School he was employed by the Boeing company. He would meet the love of his life Teresa (Teri) during this time at a party.
Rob served in Vietnam as a Navy Seabee. Upon his return from service, Rob earned his Associates degree in Business at Edmonds Community College while he was employed by Edmonds School District full time. He and Teri settled in Snohomish where Rob went to work for United Parcel Service, a career that would proudly last 30 years. They raised their family on a hobby farm living the motto, “work hard, play hard.”
Travel, fabulous cars, and the beauty of Lake Roesiger were some of the great pursuits of his life. His greatest passion was his family, whom he loved dearly and spoiled greatly.
He was preceded in death by his parents George Sr. and Marion Reid and older brother George Jr. Rob is survived by Teresa Reid his wife of 53 years and his sister Bonnie Golden (Tom), brother Scott (Colleen), son Andrew (Marissa), daughter Tami Akins (Jerrod), grandsons Drew and Alex Akins, granddaughter Paige Reid and grandson Nate Reid (Daniella) and great granddaughter Roxy.
Rob thought his time spent as a soldier in the Vietnam war ended when he returned stateside, but exposure to Agent Orange resulted in Rob battling 5 different types of cancer over his last 18 years. He battled bravely exceeding all expectations for survival by many years. He dedicated his treatment to clinical trials in the hopes information learned from his case would be beneficial in treating others.
