There was a time when Matt and I camped out in the back yard of my aunts house where I was living. I went to the store and when I got back Matt informed me that my aunt came out ranting and raving and ended up kicking me out cause she thought I was renting the tent out to him for his residence.......

I wish we could have lived closer but I will always hold the memories of our visits close to my heart. The surprise on Mamaw and Pappy’s faces when they saw you at their 50th anniversary party was so wonderful. The visit at the Sammamish house when we drove across country to see you. The time I first found you on Facebook (or it could have been MySpace) and I contacted you asking if you were my nephew. We had a great conversation across the too many miles that separated us.  Love you and your family with all my heart. 

Such a lovely service. I wish I could have been there but thank you for streaming it. Michael and Mikey, you both did just an awesome job speaking. My sister Rachel spoke. And as she said, we have missed Matt for a long time. We have never stopped thinking about him or loving him. And that is a testament to the amazing person that he was. He was such a sweet and loving friend. I am so thankful to have had him in my life. 

Three thousand  miles kept us from spending much time with Matt  but we remember one incident where he made us feel like he was only a few blocks away. Out-of-the-blue one day he called us in Virginia while he was riding on a bus with his girlfriend - just to chat, mostly with grandpa Kirsch. We don't recall the details of that conversation, only the warmth and sincerity of his voice. Reaching out to us in that spontaneous way made us so happy to know that he included us in his circle of loved ones and  cared enough to reach out and connect with us.  Only loving parents could raise such a sensitive young man. Thank you, Lisa and Michael.  

Mathew I never had the opportunity to know you but in the words of your family and friends you touched many lives. Lisa , I agree with Michael he could have had no better mother. Michael, what appropriate and inspirational words! Mikey, WELL DONE!! 

Its a privilege  to work with your wife and mother, and thank you for sharing this with me.

My memory is from a Christmas visit to Lisa and Michael one year when they still lived in Viriginia and when Matt was about 2 years old, maybe even 1? I got to share this holiday with the three of them in their home. Because Matt was so young, this was the first Christmas that they felt he would actually be cognizant of what was happening. So, Lisa and Michael created this "magical scene" in the family room for Matt to discover when he first woke up on Christmas morning, and I got to be there to share it and witness it and bask in this expression of family love and connectedness. I feel privileged that I got this moment. I am sending lots of love and support. I am grieving with you and lifting you up in my prayers. I love you guys.

Wishing you strength for today and hope for tomorrow.  The loss can feel immeasurable, but so can the love that’s left behind.
