Geneva was born in Scotia, California, to Mac and Florence Jacobsen. After the birth of her brother Wallace, the young family returned to the farm in Snohomish, Washington. Two more brothers, Albert and Theodore joined the family after the move north. The family was left without a father in 1936 afterwards the farm provided for them.
Geneva attended school in Snohomish and graduated in 1948. After graduation, she attended business college, then landed a job with Alaska Airlines as a secretary in the engine overhaul department at Paine Field. She loved her job and spent ten happy years there.
In 1953 she met and married Jerry Norland and they made their home in Everett, Washington. In 1961, they welcomed their daughter Lisa to their family, at which time Geneva committed her time to motherhood. Jerry passed away suddenly in 1979, and Geneva married Oliver “Pete” Peterson in 1982. Pete passed away in 1990 after which Geneva worked at Memorial Community Church as their administrative assistant until it closed. In her later years she was a member of Cascade View Presbyterian Church.
Geneva thoroughly enjoyed a good book, a shopping trip, or lunch out with good company. She was deeply loved by family and friends. She was steadfast in her faith and faced death without fear.
Geneva is survived by her brother Albert (Judy) Jacobsen, her daughter Lisa (Brad) Thompson, grandsons Brett (Bryanna) Thompson, Alex (Sarah) Thompson and two great granddaughters Lyona and Everleigh Thompson, as well as several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at Cascade View Presbyterian Church on October 15th at 2 pm. 1030 E Casino Road, Everett.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.Evergreen-FH.com for the Peterson family.
