Christine Ann Castor, 67 of Tigard, Oregon, passed away after a long battle with cancer on Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at the View Ridge Care Center in Everett, Washington. Chris was born April 12, 1957 in Denver, Colorado and was the daughter of Bryce and Patricia (Lawson) Castor.
Chris had a happy childhood growing up in Denver, then later St. Charles, Missouri and finally West Boylston, Massachusetts. She was active in numerous sports and at the same time developed a passion for art; primarily painting. She attended and graduated from Southeastern Massachusetts University in 1979 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Graphic Design. During her college time and showing her independence, she travelled from Massachusetts to southern California to spend summers with her parents – each trip, to and from, being made solo in a 1967 Volkswagen Bug!
Upon graduation Chris relocated to Orange County, California and pursued a successful career as a graphic artist. It was during this time that she enjoyed a multitude of adventures, backpacking in areas such as the John Muir trail, Yosemite, Catalina, the Narrows in Zion, the Grand Canyon, and even summitting Pico de Orizaba in Mexico, the third highest peak in North America. She also enjoyed biking and kayaking in and around the Newport Beach area of California where she lived. Chris continued her passion for painting, creating amazing watercolor and oil paintings of scenes and people. Some of her paintings were sold at galleries while others were given to friends and family as treasured gifts.
In 2005, Chris moved to Tigard, Oregon, working as a graphic artist for a company associated with Nike Inc. She was able to indulge her passions for exploring the outdoor trails and scenery of the Northwest and always, when possible, setting up her easel and painting the scenes that she came across. She enjoyed being close to her nieces and nephews and had many fond memories of times spent with them. Some years later, when her mother moved to the Portland, Oregon area, Chris took over much of the caregiver duties to ensure that her mother was happy and cared for until her passing.
Chris was preceded in death by her father Bryce Castor and her mother Patricia Castor. She is survived by her brother, Larry (Joni) Castor, her sister Sandy (Brian) Catlin, and her brother Tom (Judy) Castor in addition to her seven nephews and nieces: David Castor, Elizabeth Castor, Sarah Lewis, Melissa Castor, Jessica Castor, Kira Catlin, Quinn Catlin, her grandniece AvaLynn Castor and her step-niece Marlowe Krewson.
Chris’s love of life, quick wit, and soft caring nature will be memories that all who knew her will embrace always.
