Adrian Contreras Ruiz passed away suddenly at home in Marysville, WA on June 27, 2021. He was born August 15, 1979 in Phoenix, Arizona, the son of Michael Ruiz and Veronica Lopez, and stepdad Fred Lopez.
Adrian attended Chandler High School and later studied Business Management at Eastern Arizona College.
He was a dynamic, self-expressive person who was forever looking to celebrate the endless possibilities life had to offer. He had a knack for being clever, creative and witty, and for others, was a joy to be around.
When Adrian walked into the house he would light up the entire room with his laugh and smile. He was a very adventurous and spontaneous person and would drop anything to take you on an adventure and it was always guaranteed to be a good time.
This quality drew him into a diverse group of friends and acquaintances. He was almost always the first to jump in when it came to playing games or participating in other childhood activities. In his spare time he enjoyed exploring the beauty of Washington, cooking, reading, drawing, listening to music, smoking weed, and spending time with family.
Adrian always seemed aware of what was going on with people around him and throughout his life he made many, many friends. While growing up, some of his best friends were his cousins Alex and JR Rodriguez, friends Billy, Steven and Shane Murray. His charisma, supportive nature and ability to improvise when called upon to do so made him a true joy to be around.
Adrian worked as a Master Filleter at Pacific Seafood in Mukilteo, Washington. He initially interviewed as a warehouse worker but came out of the interview with a supervisor position, and was awarded Employee of the Month within 6 months of starting. This was the first employer to give him a chance after turning his life around and it gave him all the confidence he needed to become a better person. His family is forever grateful to Pacific Seafood for extending Adrian this opportunity.
He loved the family dogs, especially his own black lab, Lilly, who he was lucky enough to spend two years with. The two could always be seen together going on adventures and working on training.
Adrian is survived by his sons Adrian and Isaac, daughter Ponca, mother Veronica, father Michael, stepdad Freddy, siblings Kristy and Michael, nephew Aydin, maternal and paternal grandparents, and many more family members.
A viewing will be held at Evergreen Funeral Home and Cemetery in Everett, WA on Thursday July 8th, 2021 at 10 a.m., with funeral and graveside services to follow at 12 pm.
Adrian's family wishes to thank everyone who has reached out with condolences, prayers, and messages of support during this difficult time. You’ll never know how much they mean to us.
