Viola Lora Mulzer, born August 17, 1926. She was baptized at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Evanston, Indiana. Her father was Oscar Christ Mulzer (born June 23, 1890 and died March 18, 1956). Her mother was Amelia Anna (Foertsch) Mulzer (born November 6, 1893 and died March 15, 1988). She had a sister, Helen Barbara Hood (born September 20, 1919 and died January 22, 2011 at 91 years old), and a brother, Norwin Phillip Mulzer, (born October 8, 1915 and died December 23, 2007). She was married to Edward Peter Henry Schafer (born October 28, 1914 and died April 8, 1970) from wedding day on August 16, 1947 at St. John's Lutheran Church until April 8, 1970, 23 years. She married Clarence Emil Mulzer (born April 16, 1919 and died February 3, 2000) on September 28, 1986, and they were married 14 years. Viola Graduated from Chrisney High School in 1944. She graduated from Lockyear Business College in 1946 with a Medical Secretary diploma. She was a member of Theta Alpha Chi Alumni Sorority and she enjoyed being with members for get-togethers into her late 80’s, along with her best friend, Elsie Seifert whom she always kept in contact with. She was employed at Boetticher & Kellogg Company from January 1946 to March 1948 as a secretary/stenographer in the sales room until the birth of her daughter, Karen Lee on October 22, 1948. She then had her son, Daryl Edward, who was born on February 5, 1953 and died September 22, 2021 at age 68. She was employed with Executive Inn from 1975 to September 1986 for 11 years in the Housekeeping Department until age 72. She was employed at VNP (Visiting Nurse Plus) as a companion caregiver for 10 years from 1998 to 2008 receiving her 10-year pin and retired at age 82. Viola loved reading her Bible and read as many autobiographies and biographies as she could get ahold of in the library and from others who gave them to her. She kept up with current events and the newspaper. Veterans Day and our Veterans were especially meaningful to her, as both her first and second husband fought overseas in WWII, and her son was in the National Guard. Viola is survived by her daughter, Karen Lee Chamberlain (Vinal Lee); grandchildren, Brandon E. Schafer (Jenny), Jocelyn M. Schafer, Alex D. Schafer (Leann), Laurel K.E. Nordyke (Nathan), Grant J.E. Chamberlain; great-grandchildren, Ellie Schafer, Jack Schafer, Kyler Schafer, Alex Jr. Schafer, Emilia Schafer, Ciearra Johnston, Klaire Schafer, Hailey Nordyke, Matthew Nordyke; five step great-grandchildren; and nieces. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, https://support.woundedwarriorproject.org/ A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, November 15, 2024 at Alexander East Chapel, 2115 Lincoln Ave., Evansville, IN, with Pastor Tommy Epperson officiating. Visitation will be on Friday, November 15, 2024 from 11:30 a.m. to service time at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Alexander Memorial Park.
