Steven L. Shekell

Steve L. Shekell, 69, passed away, Monday, August 19, 2013, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, IN. Steve was born in Evansville and graduated from North High School. He graduated from UE and obtained his masters from Western Michigan. Steve started his teaching career in Michigan then moved to Carmi, IL where he was a teacher and a guidance counselor. He then moved to Evansville as a guidance counselor for Mater Dei. He became COO of Performance Learning Systems where he retired on January 2nd of this year. Steve loved fishing, boating, NASCAR, and was a sport enthusiast. He spent many years drag racing. He was preceded in death by parents, Ben and Marian Shekell. Steve is survived by wife, Donna Boehringer Shekell; daughter, Traci R. (Shekell) Pearce (Greg); sons, Troy L. Shekell (Beth), Bret A. Parks (Tammy), Brian R. Parks (Julie); grandchildren; Camille and Cassandra Pearce, Lauren, Mallory and Kelsey Shekell, Brady, Nick, Peighton, Hallie, Hendrix, and Carson Parks; brothers, John (Ruthie), Rick (Karen), and Greg (Linda) Shekell; several nieces and nephews. Services will be 11:00AM Friday, August 23, 2013, at Alexander North Chapel officiated by Rev. Larry Busch with burial in Park Lawn Cemetery. Friends may visit Thursday August 22, 2013 from 4:00PM until 8:00PM and Friday from 10AM until service time at the funeral home.
