Robert was an Army Veteran, serving in the 2nd Infantry – Indian Head Division in the Korean War. He was a member of the VFW Post 1114. He enjoyed camping, playing clabber, gardening and especially spending time with his family. Robert worked at Ohio Valley Container for 25 years, then started a lawn-care business, Weiss Lawn Mowing Service. He played in the Tri-County and III Baseball Leagues from 1954-1957. He was a pitcher on the Al’s Place team. He was an avid St Louis Cardinals fan.
He was preceded in death by his parents Louis and Amelia Weiss; son, James Weiss; sister, Juanita Weiss and brother, Shirley Weiss.
Robert is survived by his wife Genevieve “Genny” Weiss; daughter, Christine Weiss; grandchildren, Misty Koester (Scott), Aric Mitchell (Angie), Shaun Mitchel (Amy), Cody Schmitt (Hailey), Jeremy Weiss (April), Cory Weiss (Anna); great grandchildren, Kyler and Jaylin McKinney, Ethan Koester, Kaitlyn, Kaden, Kyzer and Collin Mitchell, Kailey Hoppenjans, Lacy, Eli and Ethan Weiss; brothers, Lester Weiss (Merilyn) and Melvin Weiss (Lorraine); nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog, Tink.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 25, 2019 at Alexander Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel. Friends may visit 3-7 p.m. Thursday at Alexander West Chapel.
