At 18 years of age, Bob married his high school sweetheart and two days later was deployed to fight in WWII. He served our country proudly as military police in the US Army. Bob did everything proudly which led to a very successful life. After returning home from the war in 1946, Bob worked as a sales manager for Kraft Foods for 7 years. He then went to work at Capital Paper Company as a salesman for 37 years until he retired as a manager.
Bob joined the Hadi Shrine April 24, 1953, where he was very active. He was a member of the Reed Masonic Lodge # 316, longest living past Potentate of the Hadi Shrine, Scottish Rite, York Rite College, Red Cross of Constantine, past member of Masonic Societas Rosicruciana, Royal Order of Jesters, 34 Select Group, Hadi Cabiri, Drum and Bugle Corp, and an honorary member of many other Shrine groups. He was also a big supporter of the University of Evansville, a member of Methodist Temple, and the Kennel Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilburn and Hallie Bogan; and two brothers.
Bob is survived by his wife, Marge; daughter, Connie Johnson; granddaughters, Nealie Anthony (Ryan), Jamie Taylor (Brandon); 4 great grandchildren, all of Evansville; two brothers, Don, of Mackey, IN, Jerry, of Lynville, IN; and sister, Joyce Anne, of Avon, IN.
Bob was not only a proud man, but a generous caring man. Grandpa would’ve done anything for his “Dolls”. Grandpa loved traveling, gambling, ice cream, organization, people, watching sports, and life. He had a very full, long life, and will be missed dearly! We love you! Lots of sugar!
A Funeral Service will be held 1:00 PM on Friday, August 17, 2018, at Alexander East Chapel, 2115 Lincoln Avenue, officiated by Rev. Andy Payton, with entombment in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit from 3:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday, August 16, at the funeral home where there will be a Shrine walk through at 6:45 PM and a Masonic Service at 7:00 PM.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Hadi Shrine from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday, August 17, 2018.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hadi Shrine Children’s Hospital Transportation Fund.
