She was a lifetime member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ where she served in multiple capacities. A 1962 Reitz High School graduate, she began her career at Evansville Plating Works after graduating. She went on to retire from Bristol Myers as the Inventory Control Coordinator. After retirement, Phyllis worked at A La Carte Food and Wine Shop. She was a member of the National Federation of Business and Professional Women’s Organization where she served as local and state president, then later belonged to the BPW Mt Vernon Chapter.
Phyllis is survived by her friends and caregivers, Barbara Waite, Marjorie Mills-Schmidt and Junie Pillow; cousins, Margaret Clem, Ellen Berberich, Charles Hettenbach, Doris Travers, Wayne Hettenbach, Carol Clewlow and Dale Hettenbach; and lifelong friend, David Williamson of Bowie, MD.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, June 23, 2016, at Alexander West Chapel, officiated by Rev. Mary Hurley, with burial in Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit Wednesday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and Thursday from 11:30 AM until service time at the funeral home.
