Paul E McPherson

Paul E. McPherson, 93, of Evansville, IN passed away, Thursday, July 18, 2024. He was born in Georgiana, AL on January 15, 1931 to Edgar McPherson and Lucille (Armstrong) McPherson. Paul was a US Army Veteran stationed in Germany in the 3rd Armor Division. He retired from CSX Railroad as an Engineer after 40 years of service. Paul formerly attended Immanuel Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed fishing, boating and camping at Lake Barkley. He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Plant Neugent “Pop”; wife of 69 years, Shirley L. McPherson; daughter, Paula Hammond; and brother, Shannon McPherson. Paul is survived by his daughters, Becky Ruisard (Rod), and Barbara McPherson; grandchildren, Jamie Ruisard Norris (Jeremy), Jennifer Ruisard, Jessie Ruisard, Anna Preske (Danny), Kristen Hammond Shackleford (Ryan), and James-Paul “JP” Hammond; great-grandchildren, Matthew Davis, Michael Davis, Amelia Johnson, Emily Johnson, Sydney Preske, James Preske, Evan Shackleford, Olivia Shackleford, and Finan Hammond; and two nephews, Mike McPherson and Shannon “Bubba” McPherson. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at Alexander Memorial Park Heritage Chapel, 2200 Mesker Park Drive, Evansville, IN and officiated by Pastor Terry Gamblin. Entombment will follow at Alexander Memorial Park where full military rites will be conducted. Friends may visit on Tuesday, July 23, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Alexander Funeral Home West, 2100 W. Illinois Street, Evansville, IN, and on Wednesday, from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the cemetery chapel.
