Pat transitioned peacefully with her family by her side. She was a very devout Catholic, married to her husband, Donald, of 53 years (married 11/30/68). Loyal to her family and friends. Passionate in her beliefs. A patient teacher. A willing student. A gentle voice of reason and a shoulder to cry on.
Patricia was given the terrible diagnosis of ALS more than three years ago and fought it valiantly for as long as she could with an amazing positive outlook on her life. We are happy knowing that we now have another heavenly angel watching over our friends and family.
Pat was born in Evansville on March 20, 1945 to the late Eutra and Minnie (Buck) Magness. She was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church. She graduated from Rex Mundi High School, class of 63 and Lockyear Business College. She was employed by SIGECO in the billing and credits departments and then retired from the Social Security Administration.
She loved vacations with family and friends. She enjoyed helping the church with their summer socials, monthly dinners, and bereavement dinners. She was involved in her sons’ school and sporting events including football dinners, den mother, and as a class trip chaperone. Pat loved country western and ballroom dancing, girls’ trips, and her bridge club.
A great joy in her life was her grandchildren. She was there for every stage of their lives silently wanting success in all their endeavors, keeping scrapbooks and videos of all the accomplishments of their young lives.
Pat is survived by her son, Todd Russell (Jane); son, Joe Russell; brother, Ron Magness (Ruthie); and grandchildren, Mallory and Josh Russell.
Special thanks to a great friend and classmate, Pam Diehl, for all the care and time she provided Pat on this long journey.
We will always love and remember you: Mother, Wife, Sister, Daughter, Friend, Teacher, Cook, Confidant…ROCK. One of God’s true followers to the end.
