Nelda K. Cobb Schaefer

Nelda K. Schaefer, 71, of Evansville, passed away Friday, March 28, 2014, at Deaconess Hospice Care Center. She was born March 1, 1943, in Evansville, to the late Welby W. and Bertha Z. (Nicholson) Cobb.

She was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in German Township. She graduated from North High School and Evansville Beauty College. She had worked at Kent Plastics until they closed and then worked at Heritage Center until she retired. She enjoyed playing Clabber with her friends for many years and liked to collect glass animal figurines.

Nelda was preceded in death by her son, Steven; brother, Melbourne Cobb; sisters, Betty Boyd, Devona Christmas and Anita Cobb; and nephew, Randy Christmas.

She is survived by her husband, Raymond Schaefer; son, Michael Schaefer; five nieces; and one nephew.

Services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, April 1, 2014, at St. Paul’s UCC – German Township, 8701 Big Cynthiana Road, officiated by Rev. Howie Tobak, with burial in St. Paul’s UCC Cemetery. Friends may visit Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Alexander West Chapel, 2100 West Illinois Street, and Tuesday from 10:00 AM until service time at the church.
