Maurice was a veteran of the United States Army Signal Corp during the Korean War. Later in life, Maurice worked many years in Evansville as a lineman at SIGECO and as a Maintenance Supervisor at Faultless Caster, Inc., as well as Maintenance Supervisor at Phillips Lau in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Among his many interests, he especially enjoyed tinkering around the house and yard, fixing just about anything that needed attention and fishing any chance that presented itself.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Leota Long and wife, Virginia Long (Hildenbrand).
Maurice is survived by his son, Terry Long (wife, Sandra), and daughter, Janet Philpot (husband, Wayne); grandsons, Nick Gregory and Tony Gregory; granddaughters, Anne LaRue and Adriane Hawes; and five great grandchildren.
There will be a private family burial.
