 Obituario de Mary Parsons
Mary K. Parsons, 96, of Evansville, IN, passed away on Saturday, August 1, 2020, at Sunrise of Cascade, Sr. Living in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She was born on September 19, 1923, in Onton, Kentucky, the last surviving child of seven born to the late Whit and Mamie Jackson. She lived most of her adult life on the West Side of Evansville and only recently relocated to Michigan in 2018 to be closer to her family. Mary had been employed by several manufacturing companies including Whirlpool, where she helped make aircraft parts for the war efforts. It was here that she met her future husband as she trained him for the production line. Once married though, she truly was a homemaker for the rest of her life. She was very dedicated to her parents and especially loved the family reunions and holidays of siblings, nieces and nephews, which often would have more than 50 people in attendance. She was a long-time member of New Bethel Southern Baptist Church and a faithful Christian for God. In the Evansville Homemakers Club, she was an active participant and taught many classes. Mary loved to travel and had visited all US States, except Hawaii. She loved to crochet and hook rugs (a rag or piece of cloth could never be thrown away because it could always be made into something for someone else). She also loved gardening and canning which meant that her vegetables were a year-round source of enjoyment for the family. Board games with her children, grandchildren and finally the great grandchildren were a key source of fun as Mary was always watchful for those who didn’t play by the rules. She is preceded in death by her husband, John W. Parsons in 2011. Mary is survived by her children; Tracy and Joy Parsons of Grand Rapids, MI and Roger and Mary Parsons of San Antonio, TX; grandchildren, Courtney Parsons of Chicago, IL, Megan and Joshua Schwannecke of Grand Rapids, MI, James and Caitlin Castella of San Antonio, TX and Justin Parsons of Colorado Springs CO; great grandchildren, Carsten and Julian Schwannecke and Patrick Castella. Private Services will be held. Memorial contributions may be made to your favorite charity in Mary’s name. Condolences may be offered at www.AlexanderWestChapel.com.
