Marvin R. Hollerbach, 77, of Evansville, passed away Friday, April 1, 2016, at home surrounded by his family. He was born September 4, 1938 to Arthur Hollerbach and Ida Mae (Gartner) Hollerbach Goebel.
He graduated from Reitz High School in 1957 and went to work at Koch Label. Marvin took over the family business, Hollerbach Water Service, in the mid-60’s and was also a contract school bus driver driving bus R77 for EVSC for 39 years. He was a member of the West Side Nut Club since 1969. Marvin served on many committees, the Board of Directors, and also served as Treasurer, Secretary, Vice President and President of the Club in 1983. He and Dave Baumgart co-chaired the start of Special Kids Day in 1990 and this event continues to be held every year during the Fall Festival. Marvin was also a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ German Township, where he served as Trustee and Deacon.
Marvin was preceded in death by his brother, Charlie Hollerbach; parents; and step-father, Clarence Goebel.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Margaret (Roeder) Hollerbach; daughters, Debbie (Dan) Lewis, Tammy (Bill) McCullough and Roxann (Danny) Weyer, all of Evansville; grandchildren, Ryan (Meghan) Lewis, Jason (Amanda) Lewis, Justin McCullough (Nate Haddix), and Andy and Amanda Weyer, all of Evansville, and Jessica McCullough of West Lafayette; great-grandchild, Tyler Lewis; sisters, Dolores (Alan) Becker and Linda (Melvin) Kron; brother, Larry (Judy) Hollerbach of Evansville; sister-in-law, Diane (Gary) Hollerbach Wire; step-sisters, Jean Carter and Betty Humphrey; and several nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to extend a special “thank you” to the staff of Heritage Hospice and our neighbors, friends and family for their love and support during this difficult time.
Funeral services were held 10:30 AM Monday, April 4, 2016, at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ German Township, 8701 Cynthiana Rd., Evansville, IN 47720, officiated by Pastor Linda Nanninga with burial in the church cemetery. Friends visited Sunday from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM at Alexander West Chapel and Monday from 9:30 AM until service time at the church.
