Margy L. Hardin, 97, of Robinson, passed away peacefully May 7, 2019 at 9:44 pm in Evansville, Indiana after an extended period of declining health. She leaves behind, her son, Dean and daughter-in-law, Linda of Robinson; daughter, Tommi and son-in-law, Jerry Billington of Boring, Oregon; nephews, Joe Crank of Las Vegas, Nevada and John Crank of Boise, Idaho; grandchildren, Samantha Davidson of Welches, Oregon; Rob Davidson of Gresham, Oregon; Tim and Jim Phipps of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; Jerry Roberts of Washington, Indiana; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was born in Robinson, Illinois, May 19, 1921 to John E. and Velma (McColpin) Newlin. She attended school in Robinson, college in Chicago, Illinois and the University of Tulsa. In her nearly ten decades of life, she lived through incredible times that shaped her entire family. She was the first woman in Crawford County to obtain a pilot’s license, she lived and worked all over the United States, leaving her with a lifelong love of the southwest. One of her more interesting employments, came, working for the USAF Special Weapons Dept. in New Mexico. In her 60s and beyond she was a successful Antiques Dealer and a world traveler, visiting England, Ireland, France, Belgium, China, Japan, Australia, New Zealand and Hong Kong.
Margy married Ross G. Hardin, February 3, 1953 and raised her children in Robinson. Preceding her in death was husband, Ross and father, John Newlin, both in 1974; mother, Velma Newlin in 1980; her beloved aunt, Mary Newlin; sister, Mary Ann Crank; uncle, Howard Newlin; aunt, Nera Patterson; cousin, Mary Louis Patterson; and Harry and Vada Simons.
There will be no funeral services. A graveside service will be held at a future date.
