Marcia was proud to let people know she was a triplet with brothers, Mike and Mark. Marcia made the choice to go back to school in 1990 at USI, was accepted into the Respiratory Therapist Program in 1994, and graduated in 1996. She was awarded the Rick Day Dedication Award which is for dedication and perseverance. She went to work at Select Specialty Hospital in 1997, received her registry in 1998, and continued working there for 17 years until retirement.
Following retirement, Marcia was able to spend more time enjoying the beach and lunch at Schooners during their trips to Florida- enjoying the sand, sea and sunsets. She was known by her friends and family for her enthusiasm in anything she took on. She especially enjoyed cooking large holiday meals for her family for many years. Marcia cherished the many hours with her grandchildren watching the Wizard of Oz and dancing together like the Tin Man.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Lee Wagner; sister, Charmain Coffman.
Marcia is survived by her husband of 43 years, Larry Burgdorf; sons, Jeremy Burgdorf, Brandon Burgdorf (Amy Mayer); grandchildren, Luke, Hadley and Emma Burgdorf; brothers, Fred Heineman, Darrell Heineman (Linda), Mike Heineman (Viola), Mark Heineman; and nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 16, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Alexander West Chapel 2100 W. Illinois St., officiated by Rev. Don Bernhardt with entombment to follow in Alexander Memorial Park.
Friends may visit on Sunday, December 15, 2024 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until service time.
